What is Dreams and Teams and how does it affect us?
Dreams and Teams is a fully funded, international programme aimed at developing young leaders! This programme gives young people the opportunity to do things they had never thought possible before! Dreams and Teams challenges young leaders to: demonstrate their leadership skills, become an active citizen within their community and experience and value cross-cultural understanding. Cromer High School has opted to become part of this new global community and has therefore had to establish links with international counterparts.
So, as you are all aware, it was with a little trepidation and a great deal of excitement that Mr Hambling (Head teacher) and I, Mrs Barwick (Head of English) recently set off to visit to China. It was not, as some of you suggested, a well-deserved holiday but instead the opportunity to experience education first hand in a fast developing part of China known as Shanghai. It was our chance to start the ball rolling with Dreams and Teams.
What an experience it was! No.54 High School, Shanghai welcomed us both with open arms. During our time in school we experienced; calligraphy, chemistry, handcrafts, choir practise, music (which was amazing) and sport. Not a pair to stand on the sidelines for long myself and Mr Hambling soon got involved. My skill on an instrument that resembled a guitar had the young Chinese students giggling whereas Mr Hambling’s performance on the basketball court had to be seen to be believed!
The Chinese students we met with spoke excellent English and were fascinated by the lives you all live here in Cromer and the surrounding villages. We spent time talking to them about you and the variety of experiences you have compared to theirs. It would seem that teenagers are teenagers all over the world as so many of them reminded us of so many of you. They were the perfect choice for a Dreams and Teams international counterpart.
Between us we agreed on a variety of ways in which we could develop young leaders and give students new and exciting opportunities. We are expecting a return visit from some of the staff at No.54 school in March/April 2008 but meanwhile students from both schools are going to work closely together via e-mail, video conferencing and even have face to face contact during school exchanges. However, our first big project involves making a video diary of the organisation of a basketball tournament for the pupils at our feeder schools. An excellent opportunity for those basketball fans amongst you!
All in all it was a non-stop but immensely rewarding visit which resulted in a strong feeling of partner-ship between No.54 School, Shanghai and Cromer High School, Norfolk. Watch this space; you will be hearing a lot more about our new friends in China!

Dreams and Teams 是一拥有充足资助、国际性的慈善团体，目标是培育年轻的领袖！Dreams and Teams 给予年青人机会尝试他们从来没想过自己能办到的事情。
Dreams and Teams 挑战年青领袖︰发挥他们的领导材能、成为热心公共事务的公民，以及体验并了解不同的文化背景。
Cromer High School 希望能参与这个全球性的湩动，因此致力建立国际性的联系。
我想，你们也已知道，Mr Hambling (校长)及我本人，Mrs Barwick (英语系主教师) 最近带着兴奋的心情来到中国考察。虽然有些人认为这是一个我们应得的假期，但是能够置身于快速发展的上海中亲身体验当地的教育系统才是此行的目的。而这也是我们开始Dreams and Teams的活动的第一步。
这真是难以形容的经验！上海的第54号高校，热情地欢迎我们。在学校期间，我们体验了︰书法、化学、手工艺、合唱团练习、音乐(真是精彩了)以及运动。而不习惯旁观的我们也很快地参与在期中。我那重组结他的技能令年轻的中国学生议论纷纷，而Mr Hambling在篮球场上的表现只能看见后才能相信。
我们所遇到能说流利英语的学生，他们也对Cromer及外围城镇的生活深感兴趣。我们与他们讨论各样的生活经验并与你们的和他们的作比较。我们发现世界上的青年人真的很相似，看到他们便让我们联想到你们。他们将会是Dreams and Teams完美的国际性参与者的选择。
我们两个学校也同意以各种的层面去培育年青的领袖，以及给予学生新的并令人期待的机会。我们预期上海第54号高校的一些教师会在2008年三月到四月期间来探访我们这里。而在此期间，两所学校的学生将会以电子邮件、视像会议、甚至面对面的交换生型式来保持联系。而我们的第一个活动，则是制作一个录像日记，收录学生在学校举行篮球赛事的活动。这是一个给予篮球迷参与活动的好机会。
总而言之，这是一个不停的，但却是充满奖励性的旅程，令上海第54号高校及Norfolk Cromer High School产生了强烈的合作精神。等着吧，你们将会从中国的新朋友中听到更多好消息 !
